    I hear crackling at the light switch and smell burning wire
    I switched on the bedroom light. I flickered. I heard crackling and smell burning wire at the switch. How should I proceed?

    Easiest would be to cut off power to that circuit and then replace the light switch. While your doing that inspect the wires and make sure they are clean and going to make a good connection.

    I would recommend replacing the switch "sooner" rather than later...
