    Basement venting basic question
    Experts,

Can't find answer for basic question of basement ventilation method: do you vent air out to outside (with fan in the wall), or you suck it in from outside (also w ith a fan in the wall)?

Or it doesn't matter as long as air inside basement gets displaced somehow ?

    Thanks all!

If it is a bath, you always vent out. Radon is vented out. Air for combustion is vented into the heater and the exhaust is vented out. Anytime you vent in or out, you have to temper the air, heat in winter AC in summer. What exactly are you trying to do?

Just wondering if I can I put in a 2" common vent upstream from shower draining into a 3" line with a toilet downstream from the shower? If not, what are my options in this simple fixture layout? The total length of the 3" run is no more than from main and the length of each fixture drain is no...

Basement Venting [ 1 Answers ]

I recently moved into a year old home that has an unfinished basement. There are rough-ins for a toilet, shower and sink already in place. My questions is what venting needs to be added for these rough-ins or are these vented through the existing plumbing already (or how can I tell)?
