Craftsman riding mower not getting fuel
I have a craftsman rider 10hp. I had it in for service last year & it was working perfectly. I used it 3-4 times last season & it wouldn't start anymore. It acts like it's not getting the fuel. Tries to start but just can't seem to turnover. I figured it was a clogged fuel line but when I checked with Sears, they told me this model doesn't have a fuel filter. Engine model# 143.991002 Engine family# WTPX3.3582CA 10hp. Please help.. If it's something simple, I can fix it.. can't afford another repair bill. Thanks, Tim [email protected]

Did you test for spark? Since this is an easy step, it is best to get it out of the way up front. Also, before you pull the plug, give the engine and few cranks, then check the plug to see if you smeel gasoline. Note: I am assuming when you say Tries to start but just can't seem to turnover that you mean it doesn't actually fire. If however, you did mean Turnover, then that is another problem all together.
Let us know, if you have spark, and /or if you smell gasoline on your plug when you pull it.
Good Luck,

Yes, we checked the spark plug. Maybe I didn't make sense.. sorry, It tries to start, has no battery or spark problem but it won't catch to keep running. It seems to be something in the fuel getting through. It goes through the ignition process fine but will not run. Am I making sense?

Oops, sorry, I misunderstood. In that case did you check to see if your plug was wet after a few cranks? Also, are you certain your gas is good,. no water mixed in from sitting? Assuming the plug is dry, I would start with verifying that fuel makes it to the carb but shutting of the gas valve, pulling the fuel line off the carb and then turning the valve back on, draining into a container to check for fuel flow. If you verify a good fuel flow at then I would have to recommend carb disassembly at this point. It is possible you have a plugged orfice or a stuck float valve.
Good Luck,

Okay, we've had time to work on the mower finally, Checked the gas tank, took it off & cleaned, no blockage there. Checked the carb bowl, it is getting gas, but the gas is not making it through to the spark plug. We pulled & cleaned the plug & it is getting spark but it is not wet. We have pulled everything as far as we know but cannot figure what could be blocked at this point. Any ideas?

Is this an OHV engine? Another member with an OHV Briggs engine just found a broken pushrod. I am not real familiar with the Tecumseh however.
