    Filing a motion for discovery Vermont
    I am the defendant in a civil suit in Vermont Superior Court. I need to file a Motion for Discovery. I need the format to file this motion in Vermont. Thank you for your help.

    Look up the Vermont Civil Rules, read and understand them.

    In most places (jurisdictions) one doesn't need to file a motion to engage in discovery. First you should send a written request to the opposing party (or their attorney of they have one). Only if they fail to respond to your liking would you need to file a motion.

    What sort of discovery do you seek? Common methods of discovery include:

    • requests for production of documents;
    • interrogatories;
    • requests for admissions; and
    • depositions.


    They should be online somewhere, but I can't find them at the moment. Here is a link to get you started.
