I am 18 years old and female. I am obese (currently working like crazy to not be), and I think I could have pin worms. I researched about them, and I don't have intense itching like it describes, but the other day I was sitting on my couch and I felt a tickle in my anus. I'm kind of a hypochondriac and I remember reading something about pinworms in the past, so I instantly got really afraid. I know that the articles I've read say that they aren't dangerous, but it scares me to the point where I feel incredibly anxious. I have bone issues, so I can't bend certain ways to try to look at my anus. I'm absolutely petrified, but I don't want to go to the doctor because I'm really insecure about anyone, even a doctor, seeing my body, especially my anus. I went to the bathroom a little while ago and looked in the toilet and saw the tiniest white things that honestly looked like toilet paper fibers. Because of my anxiety, ocd, and being a hypochondriac, I always wipe excessively because I have a phobia of germs and diseases. I practice great hygiene and live in a very clean home. I don't understand how I could have contacted them if I have them. Please, I know this sounds ridiculous but I'm really terrified here and I need any wisdom. Is there an at home treatment or something?

No, you are being over worried,

You can not even treat something, you do not have. First there are 100's of reasons for itching, hemorrhoids are one of the more popular reasons. But you go to doctor and see if there is even a problem, besides maybe over wiping.

Oh, honey, that is not embarrassing. That is life. It happens.

While it may feel embarrassing to you, us medical professionals have been trained to see worse than what you are describing. If I told you half of the stories of what I have seen you would laugh at your plight and drive right on over to the doctor's office.

This is not something that can be diagnosed online. While it could be pinworms, it could also be hemorrhoids or a myriad of other conditions.

To put your mind at ease... At least it's not a roll of quarters up your rectum because you are afraid someone will steal your laundry money. Yes, I have seen that.

Agreed, nurses (and doctors, but more nurses) have seen and heard it all.
I doubt that you have pinworms or any worms. It is very common for the anus to itch, what with all the little folds, hemorrhoids starting to hang out in many people as they age or have babies or excess weight, not to mention all the rubbing with toilet paper.
Put some ointment or petroleum jelly or anything soothing on a wad of toilet paper and pat it on your anus.
Generally itchy skin:
Soak in a tub with a little olive oil. Just a tablespoon.
Go easy on soaps, especially scented soaps, and rinse well.
Hemorrhoids: witch hazel or Prep H type products

See a doctor if you are convinced in a day or two that the itching is worse.

I don't think I would use olive oil, but I would use Epsom Salts.
