The MOST stubborn dog EVER! *vent*
I have to give my dog antibiotics which wouldn't be so bad because the pills have a coating but I have to cut them in half so the dog tastes the disgusting pill.
I open my dogs mouth and place the pill in the back of the throat and close the mouth and slowly pet his throat, today I waited 20mins and he "fake" swollowed a good 5-6 times but he still had the pill in his mouth and it was disolving. I had to replace it in his mouth and finally he swallowed,
The other times he fake swallowed and I looked in his mouth and couldn't see it, so he went to his bed and I noticed him spitting it out. When I put it back in his mouth he clamped it so tight.
I tried hiding his pill in a tablespoon of peanut butter, he put the butter in his mouth and smacked his lips for a good couple of minutes. And than spitted out the pill.
Does anybody know another way to hide the pill?

I use cheese, raw hamburger, peanut butter or anything left over that is sticky and they gobble down fast.

I also learned to put together the meds the night before giving it to them. My dog put 2 and 2 together that I was slipping his meds into the cheese ball I was giving him (or it seemed to - he would yak up the pill after eating the treat.)

I also make sure the treat is small enough for them to bolt down without having to chew and give 2 or 3 treats at the same time so they are gulping it down without thinking.

    Hope this helps.

I hide pills in hot dogs. I tear the hot dog up into 3 pieces and put the pill in one. I give him one piece without the pill, then the piece with it , and then the last piece. He never knows he took medicine. Lol:p

If you get the thing far enough back, usually they can't keep from swallowing it. You might also look at the ''pill poppers''
