If I were to be pregnant by a wealthy man, would he be able to take my child from me? I am drug and alcohol free. He drinks and has overwhelming stress at work, but has threatened me to take my child away as soon as he or she is born. I was so afraid that I told him I am no longer pregnant. I don't know what to do. I am 18 and he is 25. I go to college and he works. I don't think it is fair that he gets to take my child from me just because his mother is a millionaire. I am willing to get a job to keep my baby, but I cannot handle the stress this causes me being unsure of my rights.

Why would he take the child away from you? Is he angry at you?

He said he wants his child raised a certain way with certain beliefs that I cannot provide. He also said he will not ever pay child support.. He said I will have my baby and then pay him child support because he has great lawyers.. I don't know why he would think I am an unfit mother besides the fact that I am in college full time instead of working. He may have been angry. He did apologize for his behavior because he was drunk after a hard day at work but I hung up on him and blocked his number.

Less than a month. Its still early. I will notify him of all appointments if I am pregnant because I want him involved, I just want to be prepared for everything. I am curious of my rights.

If he has good lawyers, they can make a case that the child is better off in his custody. There is no predicting what a court will do. While there has been a historical preference given to the mother, fathers have been given more consideration lately.

On the other hand, if you try to hide the child from him, the courts will not look kindly on it.

I would keep any records you have of his threats. Shop around for attorneys, it could be that he can be required to pay your legal costs.
