What rights doI have for my abused nephew?
Okay. So my question is I have no rights to my nephew and niece?? Even though the mother and father Don't support them in any way, and we had a social worker come talk to my nephew and she has reason to believe he is being abused?? I still have no rights?

If the social worker feels the need to remove them from the home you can offer to take guardianship as a foster home. The CPS says they try to place kids with relatives over putting them in the system.

It the parental home is deemed unfit, and the children are removed, you can contact CPS about being willing to take the children into your care. Without knowing where you live, there may be more to it than just contacting CPS, I know that in some places you have to be a registered foster home before you can take in any children, even ones related to you. But, when it comes to actual rights, you don't have any. These aren't your children.

You can not have full rights until they are removed from the parents house. Then it is a LONG process of going from guardian to full rights.

My nephew [ 6 Answers ]

Ok, here is the situation: I had to take my nephew home, and his mom really doesn't like him sitting in the front seat, (he is five years old) so I was going to have him sit in the back, but when I opened the back door, he refused to get in, so I automatically assumed he just was a kid who...
