My ex has filed a motion to discontinue child support. My child just turned 18 but has one more year of high school. The divorce degree states that he has to pay until she is 18 or finishes high school which ever comes last. I live 275 miles from the court house and will lose time at work. Going to this will cost me over $200. Can I send my sister who lives nearby the court with the necessary documents? If I have to go, can my ex be held responsible for my costs?

Check with the court clerk whether you can send a representative or appear by telephone. But you should be able to file a counter motion for expenses.

You don't need to go in person in order to file documents. File them with the clerk by mail (with copies, of course, to your ex or his attorney if he is represented).

Your sister may not appear in your behalf unless she is licensed to practice law in your jurisdiction.

If you are required to be at a hearing, you have to be there, if you merely need to provide documents for review, they are turned into the clerk.

And the motion may not be bogus, if the child is not putting in any effort, or if the other parent can prove you have not been requiring attendant, or in some way can show it is your parenting ability that is the reason they have not already graduated. They may have a case.
