    Swollen ankle after turning it
A week ago while walking across the yard my ankle turned inward. Painful and swollen right away but could walk on it if I carefully avoided the outside of foot. Now it is still swollen, some bruising but the most discomfort is on the ankle bone and upwards toward shin. I can walk (limp) slowly and carefully but don't think it should still be swollen. I have tried ice, elevation, heat and ibuprofen. Should it still be this sore after 8 or 9 days?

You should see a doctor. This could be a sprain or even possibly a fracture.

You need to stay off it as much as possible.

Ice is for swollen, heat is for pain, after swelling goes down.
You should have wrapped it in an ace bandage by now, so that and more ice might be the problem, if there is one. I fell once and my ankle and foot were bruised and swollen longer than yours. I actually chipped a tiny piece of bone off my ankle, but that didn't change anything as far as treatment.
