    Unrequited love
I work at this restaurant and have been for quite some time. Dating back to my interview with my now boss I found him very attractive he had a smile that was warm and lit up the room he was bubbly and energetic and we clicked right at the start of the interview. Everyday I looked forward to seeing him hoping we had a shift together I went home everyday talking about him and fantasizing about us. I always knew in the back of my mind that we will NEVER EVER have any kind of future together but it still made my day and gave me some sort of piece of mind just to think about him. My best friend also works with me and she is super close with him she knows that I like him and she tells me about how close they are and all the things that they talk about etc etc. During the summer she left and I stayed to work in her absence he started talking to me more. We would talk about our favorite shows and things to do talk about our boring lives and childhood. We would even text each other occasionally about random stuff. Which of course made my day. But the moment she returned our conversations stopped he no longer returned any of my texts and to make it worse there are rumors about the two messing around. All day at work they were together talking and laughing and a few times I caught him checking her out from behind. They woukd hug each other for minutes and no space in between them she would stay extra hoirs and follow him around like a lost puppy. I recently found iit she invited him to ber parents house to go to a concert back home in chicago. It hurts my feelings to see this so in return I mentally distanced myself from him which is hard to do. I just feel so lost when I talk to my friend about how I feel she just hangs it in my face about how they went golfing together or went drinking or out to eat or whatever so I just stopped talking to her about it. And I don't have many friends so it's just eating me up inside. I don't know what to do. I hate feeling this way but I just can't help it. I need help.

You make friends and start having a real social life. He was never your boyfriend, never gave you any impression that he was. He seemed to be professional with you, nothing more.

Yes he may be having an affair or relationship with the other girl, most likely for some time. Why not just be happy for them. If this was a trouble, just find somewhere else to work.

'I always knew in the back of my mind that we will NEVER EVER have any kind of future together.'
There you go, end of story. I understand unrequited love. I think we all do (usually after someone has dumped us), but we all just suffer through it and try to keep busy with other things. If work is your only 'thing' these days, start something in addition to it, such as a course or club or sport or hobby or volunteer organization. And hey - that not only occupies your mind, gives you more skills and talents, makes you more interesting to talk to and know, but you also meet more people, one of whom might replace your boss in your thoughts.

You can't read love into his kindness.

Okay so to start, I'm bisexual (female) and not out of the closet. Three years ago, I met someone over the summer (also female). About 1 year ago, I met a guy, 'Tom', who after about 6 months, I realized I cared for deeply. The trouble is we live 8 hours away from each other.
