Shower trap diagram with low clearance
I'm installing a corner shower in an apartment with concrete floors. I can not break up the floor to install a conventional drain trap. Is there a trap for low clearances? If so how high do I have to raise the shower base to clear the trap. I plan to run the drain to where the vanity drain meet the floor and tie it in there.

6-8 inches for standard P trap. I have seen people make a running trap out of 45 degree ells but I would worry about trap siphoning and not sure if they are legal. If you Google "low clearance traps", you can find some examples too.

Running trap is absolutely illegal and will eventually cause a siphoning of the trap as "stuff" accumulates... ;)

Do they make a right angle adjustable shower drain (for use with a bed liner)? I'm replacing my tub with a custom shower on a concrete floor. The original builder installed the trap so that it is just below grade even with the floor surface. By the time I put a 90 elbow to install a standard...

P trap in low clearance [ 1 Answers ]

I've installed a shower pan in a second flore area and figured I would trap the 2" line just under the 4" thick floor. So the distance from the floor above to the bottome of the trap would be about 7". Is that enough of a column of water to force water through the trap?

P trap diagram [ 1 Answers ]

I had a clogged toilet, so I snaked the heck out of it, and now when I flush the toilet, the water goes out of the tank straight down the drain pipe instead of into the bowl. The water in the bowl gradually rises as the tank is draining, and when the tank is refilling, the bowl slowly drains out. ...

P-trap GAP - p-trap too low to meet sink drain extension [ 13 Answers ]

I just took an old crane drexel sink off the wall and replaced it for the time being ( I want to fix the older sink) with a cheap vanity/sink set. All that was easy enough, but now to my chagrin I can't finish the job. The p trap is too low, the extension pipe from the sink doesn't go all...
