Bad cholestrol is the LDL and you want to keep that below 180 - 200.

You have readings here that are within normal limits and some that are above normal limits.
This is something that you have to discuss with your doctor rather than strangers over the internet.

Exercise, and diet are the best ways to control. Your doctor should suggest best diet based on over all health. Really not that bad of report.

Overall it is not a bad report. However, there are some numbers out of range. Total, triclycerides, tc/hdl, and vldl.
With that said, every lab has it's different variances. This is best discussed with the treating physician rather than getting info from non-medical strangers over the internet.

Last week I did a blood test and found the following:
Cholesterol = 238
HDL = 33
LDL = 171
Triglycerides = 112
Doctor prescribed Crestor 10mg
I start taking this drug. But now I read about the side effects.
Can I stop this drug and try lowering Cholesterol through Diet and Sport?

Just got my physical results back.
HDL is 65
LDL is 150.
Ok, I understand that I need to reduce the LDL to under 100 but what about the HDL?
They tell me that the goal for HDL should be 40-59, but based on what I've read, "the lower the better" for HDL.
Is that not true?
