When I was six to 12 years old my older brother molested me.I was scared to tell anyone bekuz he threatened to hurt me.so I kept it to myself.mother was barely there.and when she was there he would still sneak and do it ;(. Now I'm twenty years old and still haven't told anyone I be wanting to but afraid of how mom is going to react.its been eating me up.. now he is 24 AND mentally unstable bekuz of solitary confinement in jail for other reasons.. I Dnt know what to do.I need help

Get professional counseling and worth though the steps to move on with this, that they feel is best for you. Many times telling everyone is done, other times only confronting the guilty person. But a professional is really needed for you

Yes you need professional help to guide you on deciding how to handle this because you could be opening a can of worms. Often moms know something is wrong but they don't want to deal with it because of fear so they hide their face to it. Hopefully your mom wasn't one of those moms. Then what are your expectations of how is it going to really affect things from here? Are you hoping for an apology, justice, him to realize how wrong he was and change? There are so many things you need to get off your chest, in the open and closure to that the best thing is to get counseling.

I agree that mothers often can't deal with hearing about it. They feel guilty as mothers, and that can make them resent you. Not always, but you just don't know. I agree that counseling is first. Is there a walk-in general clinic near you? You can be seen by anyone at first, even a nurse or social worker, and they can arrange a licensed therapist. And if you can't pay it all, they will probably have sliding scale or you might be able to be seen for free. Please let us know.

You must get the help YOU need so you can deal with this. Please see a counselor. After working with the counselor on the issues this has caused for YOUR life, and it could take quite awhile so this is no one day fix, together the counselor and you will help you to the point where you can verbalize to others if that is what is determined to be best for you. Don't go it alone any longer... if one counselor doesn't feel like a good fit for you, find another until you find the person you trust to guide you to healing yourself.
