Can you be more specific. Are you writing an escape clause into a lease or telling a tenant that you are terminating the lease or what?

    Hello sugar:

Your post will be moved shortly. (I had to chase you down) Never mind! It's internal stuff.

I'm sure we can help you, but you have to go into more detail than that. Frankly, I know a lot about this stuff, but I have no idea what you're talking about.

As a matter of fact, if you spend a minute here and tell us EVERYTHING, then our advice is going to be that much better.

Thanks a lot guys, basically I and my flat mate are living on rent and as stated on our contract we signed for a 6 months break clause and hence we are terminating our contract so need to write to our landlord and I don't know how to work the letter?

I just realised my earlier message doesn't make any sense... sorry!

I hope that makes more sense then my previous thread. Thanks for your replies though and will appreciate any help.

Still not clear, but it sounds like your lease has an out clause that permits you to terminate after 6 months. If that's the case, just keep it very simple:

As provided by the terms of oour lease, we are terminating the lease effective...

Yea basically our contract has an out clause which allows us to terminate our contract after 6 months and I wanted to know how I word the letter which you have mentioned but do I need to write the date of when I wish to vacate which according to the contract should be in June?

    How would I write that.

Sorry I'm only a student so don't know much about these things.

    Thanks for your help.

Right! What follows the word effective is the date you will move out.
