Hi, my names is Andy and a couple of days ago I was playing basketball and the ball hit my hand, hitting my fifth metacarpal. I immeditediatley got some ice and iced it fro a go 30-40 minutes. This all happened five days ago. My hand is a little bit swollen, but I have no bruises and I have full motion of my pinkie. The only things I can't do is put too much force on it, like try to making a fist and putting force behind it and I also cannot lift my pinkie fully straight up. Also I have been taking ibprofuben, icing the are, and putting preform( like bengay) roll on on my pinkie. Also it's not my pinkie that hurts, it's only from the pinkie knuckle down

Wrap your hand in an ace bandage. You could have broken a bone, but finger breaks are not treated except to align in place before splinting, and yours doesn't sound mis-aligned or even broken. It may heal a little lumpy from scar tissue inside.. I have 2 such fingers.
