Friendship ended suddenly?
*Ex-friend is referred to as "H"*
So, H and I had been friends for at least 7 years, we had been through everything; high school, parties etc. etc. - best friends. The friendship got weird about last year, H had done something that I didn't like and I confronted him about it and he sort of brushed it off. I assumed that guys will be guys and there is no emotion usually. After awhile, H seemed really annoyed whenever he came around, would get offended really easily at things - like me saying that I didn't like a type of food that he did - and then pretend he didn't. Although it didn't happen until recently, sometimes I would feel resentment from him, though he continued to still come and hang out after each time. Other times when he would come around it would be really good. Now, we recently found out that we liked to have the occasional joint together, usually I would go and get it for us. About a month ago, H comes over and tells me his sister has given him some - I haven't seen or heard from him since. Usually I would see him at least once a week. Did my best friend just secretly hate me the whole time, or just use me or what?

I would guess that his sister wants him to hang out with her to smoke their brains out.
She might have more than one joint at a time.
Who knows? That's just one scenario out of thousands.
The usual reason that friends abandon friends is that they fall in love with someone.

Hey, thanks for your response. I suppose it could be, but I don't think it would have mattered,he would come over at least once every week for years, after or before going to smoke his brains out. As for the being in a relationship with someone, I know for a fact that it's not that.

Maybe he's gone in another direction and whatever he's up to, includes people, places or things, that he knows you would not agree/approve of, so he keeps whatever is going on, to himself.
You could be a reality check for him, and considering he knows you as well as you know him, he is uncomfortable to stick around, because he fears losing the friendship.
I wouldn't give up on such a long time friend. Instead, why not go to him, instead of him deciding when he'll come around. Or, arrange a time and place, and try to talk to him about this distance developing in the friendship. Who knows- maybe he's coming around when he does, for help, but just can't quite get there.
