    Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan Wiring
I am trying to reinstall a Hampton Bay ceiling fan (Model 44F8). There are 4 wires in the ceiling; two of which are still connected. The fan itself has 3 wires... black and red (they are connected); red is the light and black is the motor; the single white wire is marked neutral. What do I connect to what in order to make the light and fan work? Thanks for your help!

    Wiring
Hi, hope I can offer some help.

What color are the wires in your ceiling? There was a fan connected to them before, right?

I'm guessing you have two switches in the room that control this fixture. That'd be one reason why 4 wires are there. The wires "should" be black, red, white, and bare copper (or maybe green).

    If that's true, then:

    1. Make sure circuit is OFF! It is not sufficiently safe to simply have the switch(es) turned off.
    2. Connect ceiling fan "Ground" (green or bare copper) wire to the green or bare copper.
    3. Connect the fan's white wire to the white in the box
    4. Connect the fan's red/black pair to the remaining loose wire, which should either be black or red.

Bolt the fan to the box, turn circuit on, and have fun.
That help you out at all? Hope so.

    Happy wiring, james

I want to eliminate the remote from my veranda fan. I understand the wiring for the light and how to add a pull switch. After removing the remote there are 4 wires, a red, pink, yellow and gray. Can you tell me which wires to hook up to make it work from a chain pull switch. I can't determine which is the primary hot wire and how to connect the others.
