Can High Stress Cause Insane Blood Pressure?
Basics: A little above average build, mild amount of exercise. Healthy organs. 22.

Pretty much my doctor told me he has no idea why I have high blood pressure and I'm kind of wondering if stress can cause high blood pressure. My high is like 180 sometimes. Usually around 160. He gave me some hydrochlorot and losartan potassium...

But Still I have very high blood pressure. He said he can't figure out why I have it and insists that stress can't cause this.

I had an ultra sound and my organs are good so I'm trying to figure this out.

I've lived with mild-mid depression since like 3rd grade. And have an unhealthy fear of dying.

I also have had some really insane drama with insane girls, that I feel has caused permanent 'damage' well after the fact and well into my next healthy relationship.

I have shingles on my arms and legs from time to time which he informed me was little blood vessels busting. His nurse said they looked like chicken pocks (which they were not) just to give you an idea of the size.

They come out when I'm in high stress or working hard or sometimes when I'm just relaxing.

But my blood pressure is consistently around 180-160 over 90-80 without meds

And with meds mentioned above around 160-140 over 80-70

The other day (on my meds) I hit my high on 180 again so I'm wondering if my meds are becoming ineffective or something...

I can not even pay to see my doctor anymore because I was laid off so I can't even see him.

Anyone have a semi-professional opinion? Not sure if there is any doctors that get on here after a hard day of work. But I could use a second opinion with the little amount of information I have provided... :)

“Although stress is not a confirmed risk factor for either high blood pressure or heart disease, and has not been proven to cause heart disease, scientists continue to study how stress relates to our health. And while blood pressure may increase temporarily when you're stressed, stress has not been proven to cause chronic high blood pressure.” Stress and Blood Pressure

Hydrochlorot is a diuretic, commonly used to control blood pressure. Lorsatan is, of course, a medication to reduce high blood pressure.

High blood pressure can certainly damage your organs. It can also kill you.

What other medications or combinations has your Physician tried?

I believe you, but I find it rather amazing that your Physician allows you to walk around with extremely high blood pressure and has no explanation.

I was 180/110 once, and the Doctor threatened me with hospitalization. I then started taking my medication regularly and as prescribed and cut out salt. It worked for me.

Like I said, the meds made it a little lower, but sometimes it dosen't work...

I've lived with this for along time since early high school late middle school.

They checked my organs and everything was fine.

I can't really even go back right now because I have no money so yeah.

But yeah he knows I've lived with it for along time. I didn't know this was something you get hospital-bound for.

I really wish I could find the route of this.

I know you said cut out the salt worked for you. I went on a strict diet a while back and lost a lot of weight (like 15 pounds in 3 weeks) and my blood pressure didn't even change a little bit.

No insurance? Go to a nearby ER and check in with a doctor there. Your bp meds may need to be adjusted or changed. Ask for a social worker connection when you are there and get some counseling going.
