I am almost 50, divorced 3 years ago, live with my mom. I do not have many friends, and my job, is not fulfilling and probably the company will not last much longer. I am not broke, I have money saved. Yet I don't feel like I will never be happy again. I feel I will never meet anybody that will want to be with me and none of my dreams will ever be fulfilled. I feel my life is going nowhere and I have given hope. I just don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

You're a good writer, so look for a local writers' group. There may be one that meets at the public library or at the Y or at a park district building. If there isn't one, start one! (Trust me -- there are lots of wanna-be writers out there.) And if you need ideas and suggestions on starting one, I'm your girl!

Take a class or two at your local community college. It doesn't have to be anything special or credit worthy. Is there something you've always wanted to know more about? I would take Anatomy & Physiology or Anthropology. How about you?

Become a tutor. A lot of villages and cities have volunteer tutoring programs not only for underprivileged kids but also for just the garden-variety struggling ones. Call/Ask about this at schools near you.

Volunteer at an area hospital (be a transporter! ) or library or animal shelter. Stack up donated food at the food pantry. Sort clothing donations at a charity's store.

In other words, get out there and have a great time meeting people and doing things!
