Statue of limitations for child molestation in Michigan
I was molested for two years from 1990-1992 by my brother. When my parents found out they made him move to a different state with a relative. Now 23 years later he has decided to move back to Michigan. I am afraid and I want to file a police report and report everything that he did to me so long ago.

I do not know where to start. What can I do?

You are an adult, why are you afraiid of him ? He will not live with you, he is no more of a risk, than any sexual preditor on the street. ** there are 100's in most peoples neighborhood

How do I prevent him from attempting to contact me?

I need advise not a smart remark. Until it has happened to you or your children then come at me.

You might want to look at the site rules you agreed to when you joined.

You don't get to dictate who answers or how they answer. And incidentally I saw nothing at all out of line with Fr_Chucks response. It was very matter of fact and valid.

My research indicates 10 years or when the victim turns 21, whichever is later. So that has clearly past.

You can try to get a restraining order against him. But the fact that no police report was filed at the time is going to make that rough.

You can write him a letter (or have an attorney write one), telling him he is unwelcome at your home and to make no attempt to contact you or you will pursue legal remedies. You have the protection of trespassing on your property. You can contact the relatives that took him in to explain to him to keep away.

There seems little you can do from a legal perspective, but you do have some options.

P.S. ALL of your responses have been valid, being rude to the people trying to help you is not a good idea. Your response to Chuck, especially, was out of line and that may have interfered with your getting other responses. If you don't like advice, just ignore it.
