Hi,

I stayed in the US for 03 years on L1 visa and then went back to my country.
After 08 months of gap, I re-entered into US on H1 B visa with an another employer for 2.5 years.

I would like to know if I can apply for renew of my H1b visa for another 03 years as I understand there is a limit of 06 years which is combined of L1 and H1b.

Awaiting expert advice please.

You're correct. It's 6 years and if you want to live in US permanently, you must obtain GC.

If extension for 03 more years is not possible, can I get an extension of 06 remaining months. I stayed for 03 years on L1 and have a valid Hi visa for 2.5 years.

Also, would like to know, if number of days I have spent outside of US during these 5.5 years will add to my stay in US.

As per my understanding goes, If you have converted your previous L1 into H1B visa, then the period you have stayed on L1 Visa will be counted into H1b cycle ( 6 year period ). Otherwise if your H1B Visa a new petition, then this will be a fresh cycle, enjoy till 2.5 years, then apply for extension.
