    Replacing ceiling fan with light.
There are 8 wires: 4 black together, 3 white together, 1 single white. From 4 different coax. The fan was hot at all times. The light was on 2 different switches. I am stuck.

You need a test light or VOM. Black would normally be hot. I would try black and separate white. How was the fan hooked up?

Get a VOM meter. You need to isolate the switch pairs from the supply pair.

From your description of the wiring, it sounds to me as if this fan was not wired correctly.

Are the lights connected to two (2) three-way switches?

Is the power source for the fan//light combination in the ceiling?
