You see it here ;the language they use. When we point out the hypocrisy of someone like Soros who owns 1.9 million shares of Halliburton (a company they hate ) or Gore and the Hollywood elites flying around on gas-guzzling, atmosphere-polluting private jets while railing against global climate change ,or the clowns at Wall Street and their revolving door between Wall Street and Washington they defend their actions while at the same time railing against them .
They killed Romney over his off shore investments while being funded by Soros who moved his headquarters to the tax free Caribbean country of Curacao to avoid paying the US taxes he supports . If the Koch Brothers or Sheldon Adelson is funding campaigns they scream about campaign finance reform while turning a complete blind eye to the Democracy Alliance, a secretive organization of progressive millionaires and billionaires who finance a spider's web network of foundations and Super PACs that operate with undisclosed “dark money.”

According to their narrative ,money in politics is corrupting only because rich Republican businessmen trade campaign donations for low taxes and fewer environmental regulations.
Then they call for 100% public financing of elections which not only would pick the pocket of the commoner ;but cement in place the permanence of a ruling elite that would have their grubby paws on all the money allocated to campaigns .
This foundational idea that Republicans act out of self-interest while Democrats act out of the public interest is the keystone to the mythology of your everyday Democrat. It’s simplistic and bogus ,and I will continue to point it out no matter how many times they dismiss their participation in it as no big thing. For every Sheldon Adelson ,there is more than one Jeffrey Katzenberg . But of course he ,and Al Gore ,and George Soros are only doing it for altruistic reasons as their own coffers get ever larger.
Well that"s great isn't it?.
You and another member here have, at various times, bemoaned the fact that I am bias in my assessments. You know,"showing my true colours". In the last few threads I have tried to point out that there are no dots to join up for anyone. It is a 50/50 proposition.
But apparently that is still not good enough for you. You are determined to demonize the opposition at all costs. And what do you want me to say as a fair minded person? Your political system is rotten to the core?

You are determined to demonize the opposition at all costs.
That is indeed their only motivation for posting in "Current Events".
Your political system is rotten to the core?
We, from the outside, can see plain as day but they only see that other side being corrupt and their side being the white knight.

Hello again;
Ok, 5 pages now of my rich guys are better than your rich guys... I AIN'T buying NONE of it. In fact, the MORE you tell me how wonderful YOUR guy is, the LESS wonderful he looks.
I DO like David Koch, though. He sponsors NOVA - my favorite science show.

That's hilarious. I've known the Gores personally my entire life. There hasn't been an altruistic impulse in that family for at least three generations.
As for the rest of this thread, rich guys stay rich by doing everything they can to protect their riches (DUH!). How they got rich is open for critique, as are their choices in how to protect their riches.

The whole idea of the few controlling the many, while they put profits over people is absurd. That's slavery. Its never mattered about the politics, which is but a means to an end for rich guys anyway.

The real point is the hypocrisy of the left decrying the potential purchase of the LA Times... and it's potential for slanting the news ;in a warning editorial in the Washington Compost... a newspaper substantially owned by Berkshire Hathaway aka Warren Buffet ;another billionaire hero of the left .

This is the basis for the entire Progressive movement: the "we know better than you" elitism (pronounced 'arrogance') that ultimately leads to a Stalin or a Mao or a Khomeini or a Castro or an Obama. All tyrants have played this card since the Roundheads told Charles he wasn't divine.

Were those ELECTIONS or frauds? I don't think the people, if they had a CHOICE, would have voted for them. Do you?
That's the whole idea of tyranny.. The people don't get a CHOICE.

We got the guy we voted for by majority vote. BOTH times. Seems to me a tyrant wouldn't want to leave after his term was up.

Oh, you HAD a choice.. You just couldn't muster the votes... That's the way it works here.
Besides, if you can't tell the difference between our election and the tyranny of the Soviet Union, we don't have a lot to talk about.

Yes KDS is alive and well. In a brazen display of liberal media bias that allegedly does not exist, the Newspaper Guild in conjunction with the CWA union, is campaigning against the possibility of a Tribune Company sale to the Kochs... in the name of objectivity and media integrity of course.
The Newspaper Guild & Communications Workers of America Call on Tribune Company to Protect Newspapers’ Integrity as Sale Proceeds
Recently you’ve seen many petitions asking that the Koch brothers not be allowed to buy the Tribune Company’s newspapers. We understand why the Kochs breed this distrust. They are active political proponents of harsh right-wing positions. We’re also not certain that Tribune will listen to anything but money when the final decision is made.
What we do know is that great papers publish credible, trusted journalism online and on the printed page. Whoever comes to own these mastheads needs to understand that protecting newsrooms from ideological taint is no small thing. The future of American journalism depends on the ability to print truth, not opinion.
We call on Tribune to make a pledge that they’ll only sell to a buyer that will protect the objectivity of the news product by making a public commitment to doing so. The Newspaper Guild-CWA and the Communications Workers of America seek your support in this goal.
As if newspapers have actually been objective, truthful and brimming with integrity lately.
Also, LA Democrats are having a hissy fit as well.
Three Los Angeles City Council members -- including a candidate for mayor -- asked their colleagues Tuesday to consider pulling city pension money from the investment firms that own the Los Angeles Times if they sell the publication to buyers who do not support “professional and objective journalism.”
Said one councilman, Bill Rosendahl, “Frankly what I hear about the Koch brothers, if it’s true, it’s the end of journalism.’
Dude, I think we're beyond that stage. Maybe the Kochs could revive journalism.

Ask the morons at the LA Slimes if they'd rather work for a company that is going to shut down ;or for some people who actually understand the market place and can save their p.o.s. newspaper and their "pretend we are objective gate-keepers of the truth " jobs.Tut is right... they want to pick their corporate masters . But if they think they'd get a fair deal from Warren Buffet... well then Jerry Brown has a high speed rail road to nowhere to sell them

Half the morons at the Times raised their hand when asked if they'd quit if the Kochs bought it. I tend to think that's mostly show, even lefty newspaper employees know what the job market is like, especially in newspapers.

This would be appropriate on the "it's come to this" thread as well. A lefty coalition is begging Tribune not to sale to the Kochs for all the usual reasons, i.e. a Koch owned outlet "could not be trusted to provide an honest account of a wide variety of issues that are of vital importance to the public."
The kicker is Daily Kos is part of this coalition calling for an "honest account" of important stuff. No, seriously.

Lurching from one extreme to the other is never going to solve this problem. I think this is as plain as the nose on my face. And I have a large nose.
Are you suggesting that such a sale will change anything?
