I'm 13 and in 7th grade going into 8th soon. I think this guy likes me but I'm not sure.

I think he likes me because:

-He stares at me a lot. Sometimes when I catch him he looks away. However, sometimes he keeps looking at me with this soft look on his face.

-He used to compliment my artistic skills. He would tell me something was awesome or he wanted me to draw him something.

-He always used to come to me for help with his homework. I noticed I was always the first person he asked. We had 3 or 4 classes together last year. This year we only have gym and another class together.

-He used to tell me stories about his friends and be just really smiley and happy around me.

-Whenever we talk (which is rarely, I'll get to that) he struggles making eye contact. Last year he could look me in the eyes.

-He used to tease me. He would take my things and not give them back! Like for instance one time he walked by my desk and snatched my gym bag. I said "HEY! Give that back!" and he smiled and started laughing and made me go chase him to get it back.

-This is one of the big things. He shows off around me constantly. Especially in his athletic abilities. Last year our school had this big dodge ball tournament. What I noticed was every single day HIS team played he'd ask me if I was going to watch the games. Whenever I said "Yes" he simply said "Cool" and then he turned around.

-He always used to try to make me laugh. Every time he saw me laughing he would smile.

-This is the biggest reason and I can't explain it. He constantly asks my friends about me when I'm not around! He has math with my friend and he asks her how I'm doing 2-3 times a week. He even asked her once just a few days ago if she thinks I like him. (None of my friends have any idea I like him so she said no) She said every time she says my name he looks up. She also said he's always comparing me to people. Like he asked her for help and she said no and his response was: “Please? (my name) always used to help me!” or for instance she loves to draw. He said to her: “Oh I like your art! But I think I like (my name)'s more.”

But over the summer break I guess something changed.. Now there are reasons that throw me off. Like:

-He never looks at me in the hall when he passes by. When I look at him it's almost like he's looking passed me or right through me. At the beginning of the year whenever I saw him I'd say hi and he said hi back but he never looked at me so I stopped.

-He NEVER starts conversations with me. I always have to start them and half the time I can't even hear him because he talks so quietly.

-He used to give me odd looks. Like he'd raise his eyebrows at me and give me the "You're so weird" look.

-He never even so much as says "Hi" to me anymore. :/

I'm so confused. My friend said that last year he said he liked me and he likes me even more this year. But I've already learned you can't always believe what your friends tell you.

Actually about 2 weeks ago I asked him about this. I approached him in gym and said "Hey! How come you never talk to me anymore?" and he looked up at me and said "Oh I don't know. I'm busy with book work and stuff...." And I smiled and said "Oh? Is that why I always catch you staring at me!?" and he got SUPER defensive and he gave me that raised eyebrow look. He said "I DO NOT STARE AT YOU!" and he was even smiling and moving his eyes back and forth. And I said "Yeah you do!" and my friend started pulling me away from him and he said one last time "I do not stare at you!" So then later in life science he was getting his stuff together and he was near my seat. I said "Hey!" and he said "Hey!" then he said "Oh do you sit here?" and I said "No. My seat is up here." and he said "Oh. Well see yeah!" and I said "See yeah!" and I never saw him the rest of the day. And this is what makes me so mad! The next day it went back to normal! He never so much as looked at me! I don't understand... Can someone explain why his behavior changed so drastically?

I'm going through the same issue... :( I've never figured my reason out... :( I'm in 7th grade,going into 8th. A couple months ago, my guy friend stopped talking to me out of the blue. I'd say, "Hi," and he's not answer, so I know what you're going through too. :( I'm so confused ,sad and mad... I don't even know what I did... I heard from his friend that the guy like me in first quarter, (it's now 4th) and now that he doesn't like me, he avoids me. :(
