If you step on a nail and it punctures the skin, you go directly to the hospital and receive a tetanus shot to avoid infection and lock jaw. You don't wait around asking about it.

Is a single dosage enough for it?

Why is this posted under other family and people? >thread moved<

Yes, tetanus is one vaccine. Why would it matter, and why are you waiting before you go for treatment? Lockjaw is not fun.

It is a series three; and have one every ten years, but OP should be aware that it isn't only lockjaw, it also includes this

    Symptoms of tetanus may include:

    Headache
Muscle stiffness, starting in the jaw, then the neck and the arms, legs, or abdomen
    Trouble swallowing
    Restlessness and irritability
    Sore throat
    Sweating and fever
Palpitations and high or low blood pressure
Muscle spasms in the face, causing a steady smile or grin

If not treated, tetanus can cause death from suffocation.
How and when should you receive the tetanus vaccine?

Tick, I meant one injection at a time, not a series of shots.

    Or am I wrong?

    I do know it's every 10 years.

It is a series of three, when you have been injured and a booster every ten years

Then I apologize for my bad info - I had a tetanus shot a few years ago. Didn't realize it was a booster.

    Again - sorry.
