that the United States engaged in the practice of torture is impossible to dismiss by a public that needs to know what was committed in the nation's name.
it damaged the standing of our nation, reduced our capacity to convey moral censure when necessary and potentially increased the danger to U.S. military personnel taken captive.

I wonder what the commission would say about force feeding hunger strikers ? Good thing we got Emperor Zero and his take no prisoners policy . That way he can sleep well at night without disturbing his sense of moral superiority . When KSM was water boarded he was not asked a single question that we did not already know the answer to. Sometimes he lied, sometimes he told the truth, eventually a pattern emerged. There was just one individual that he consistently lied about. Guess who that turned out to be? OBL's courier.A puzzle solved that led us directly to OBL's lair.

smoothy I fully understand why you feel the way you do and I also harbour strong views regarding muslim jihadists and supporters and they are not confined to those who cheered but the person falling from the tower is a victim of terrorism.
Torture is a more systematic process which might employ terror tactics but it has a different purpose usually to elicit information or change in allegiences and is directed at a specific individual. I honestly don't know at what point interrogation crosses the threshold and becomes torture but I do know that the threshold for terrorism is crossed when fear is injected into the situation I expect we will come to know whether Boston was an act of state sponsored terrorism or al qaeda was involved or it was an act of madness |
