The voice of dissent
We have heard much about the PIGS but there are consequences for allowing your country to fail economically and they might just descend elsewhere. A new party is rising in Germany calling for Germany to abandon the Euro and by coincidence, the bailout of the failing european states
Anti-euro party a wildcard in German elections - World news
This movement is in its infancy and its leadership isn't charismatic but there is a danger in german politics should the voices of reason and unity be replaced. Let us not forget, economic failure in Europe has consequences for the rest of us, consequences that we are unable to calculate. It seems the reasons for strong regulation of banking and financial systems are ever present

I can't say I blame them . When the Soviet evil Empire collapsed ,the West Germans paid for the unification of Germany. Now that Europe is in this fictional union ,they are being asked to pay for sloven and undisciplined economic practices of the southern states in the EU.

You know Tom this is the price of empire, It is an illusion that the EU is not the fourth Reich, because that is what it has become, the germans have got what they wanted and now they don't want it any more

Really , the Reich stole the resources from the conquered nations and enslaved the people. I think the EU is the reverse.. It's more like the Versailles treaty where of the Germans is a demand of financial reparation. Silly Germans thinking they could run a relatively efficient and responsible economy on a continent of lazy a$$es .

It is more like the germans think they can impose their discipline and structure on others. They would be better out of the EU and so would Britain

The germans aren't the only ones who want out of the euro- so do all the countries who are having it blow up in their faces. There are even university groups with international meetings dedicated to debating and reforming the current system. This isn't just about self preservation on the behalf of Germany, this is about all of Europe, even the countries who have gone bust from the euro. No one wants their country to be the next Greece or Spain!

Debating and reforming the current system? That's an endless pursuit. I'm sure Cyprus didn't want their cosy little tax haven disturbed but this is what happens when your neighbours can't be trusted

The only reform is a better circulation system as there are few nations on earth that don't have the elites controlling the where and who gets the money, and how much. They set value and price, for a profit. The more profit the better with no mind of the affects on people.
Its always been that way. The few deciding for the many.

No the ethos of this place is different, because it was so remote people had to be more dependent on each other and the local people had an ethos of sharing, it is only in recent decades that this has been changing since we allowed in people from asian and middle east cultures. The people who came here weren't the upper class snobs

No, the upper class snobs were YOU having an underclass to import. That's the human growth pattern as populations grow, and immigrants like yourself replaced the indigenous population with your own. Some assimilate, some not so fast. The major theme is the same as it always is the conqueror prevails the rules of the society. You have imported a peoples whose culture is much older than yours so assimilation will be in stages at their own pace, as you and they deal with your own prejudices.
Its called progress and its seldom a smooth process.
