I recently bought a used square blanco sink #518478. They guy advertised it as either undermount or overmount sink. I loves the sink, when I got there had no clips! I asked the guy about it he said they are designed to be used with no clips. He said you silicone sink to laminate countertop. Fill with water and tape in place let so for 24 hrs. I'm no plumber so I said OK and off I went. Later my partner said that seems odd. So I emailed blanco to see if there was a clip system I could purchase to overmount. They said I had an undermount sink. Great!! I love the sink, but not enough to buy solid surface counter tops. My question is can I install it the way this guy said? Or am I opening myself up for a world of headaches?

If it's designed to be an undermount only, the flange will not look right or sit right if you try to make it a drop in.

Have you considered taking it back to where you bought it?

Ya I've phoned him he doesn't want to give me the cash back. Bought it on a used website. Class act schiester!

We are updating the kitchen to sell the house. A plumber said we may have troubles with the inspection if we do it cause its not meant to
Go that way. He said without the clips may leak in time as well as possibility steel may warp in time from not having the corners supported. He said would prob end up being a headache if we try fudge it. The guy that sold it to me said the plumber is on glue and this is a common installation method! I tend to believe the plumber!

Undermount sinks are connected to the granite, marble etc. with clips and sealed with a silicone adhesive. You never put an undermount sink in a laminate top. Laminate tops are designed for drop ins and yes, some sinks are designed for installing either way.
