    That all depends on what the letter is about. Without knowing that, it is hard to respond to your question. Was it sent by certified or registered mail? Does it directly concern you or someone you know? Is it concerning a legal issue between you and someone else?

    Sorry about the questions, but need more information

    Sometimes attorneys send out letters to advertise their services to people who are involved in some kind of legal issue. Could involve a crime or other kind of case.

    It is civil matter involving a quit claim that was given to me. The letter is written up to look like a court lawsuit but is not filed with the court that I can tell. It goes on to say I have 20 days to respond or it is a defalt decision. It was delevered my messaager.

    Your question is really REALLY strange. The answer, of course, is you don't need to respond to anything, ever (unless it's the cops knocking on your door).

    But, why wouldn't you? Clearly, you've got some property that needs defending. Somebody is trying to get it. That much is clear. What happens if you're wrong, and it IS a real document and you lose your property?? That's not going to be good.

    Unless, of course, you shouldn't have the property in the first place.
