Cleaning up after MICE: how to clean canvas storage shelves?
    Hi folks,

I'm looking for ideas. In spite of my 4 cats, I've had mice in my closet. I'm in the process of laundering all of my clothes.

Some of my clothes have been stored in these hanging canvas "sweater shelves" which have cardboard shelves sewn into them, something like the one pictured here:

Amazon.com: Household Essentials 01812 Six-Shelf Canvas Sweater Organizer: Home & Kitchen

Any ideas on how I can clean them of mouse turds, sufficiently so that I'll feel comfortable putting the clean clothes back in them?

    Thanks!

The trouble with mouse turds is that they can be sticky (probably from urine too), so I would take everything outside, sponge them with lots of soapy water, and spray them with bleach in a spray bottle if you don't mind the fact that the bleach will bleach.

The more animals I have, the more I have to watch out for mice stealing kibble. And I have heard the mice, and seen the mice, and the animals sleep right through the racket. So I try my best to keep all kibble stored away and out where I can see it when it's in bowls, and I put the bowls in the fridge at night.

I used to have four domestic mice that turned into 52 of them, seemingly overnight (prolific little beasts!). They poop and pee as they walk around and stink mightily for such cute little creatures, so I vote yes on Joy's instructions.

... and without getting too graphic, when I went to my aged parents to take care of them, the stench was enough to make me pass out, and the turds in some places were 2" high and cemented fast to the surfaces they were on... dead mice in walls, ceilings, and floors...
