    Hi Brireey

Did you have the spindle in the 1/2 open (or 1/2 closed) position before you tightened everything up? If not, then that is your issue as this 1/2 way mark is required or you will have the problem you describe.

Disassemble the valve assembly and uninstall the spindle. Set the spindle so it is 1/2 way into the nut and then tighten the nut down. Keep checking that the spindle is free (move back and forth) during tightening. Once all is tightened double check that that was the issue and then tighten the packing nut at the tip if the new spindle and assemble all.

    Good luck!

Ahhhh! Thank you, Brireey... always appreciate the updates!

For those wanting a more technical approach, check out this link for details:

    http://www.symmons.com/~/media/Files...SysZV89ins.pdf

Page 6 at steps #4 and #8 address the issue by calling the spindle the "valve" at step #4, and "drawn close to the cap" in step #8. BOTH steps have the same statement:

*WARNING*...Failure to do this will damage cap and spindle".

Point: The Symmons spindle assembly must be in 1/2 open/closed position in relation to the cap (see link) to remove and when reinstalling or damage results!

In Symmon's Industries defense, by the way... the instructions provided with the TA-10 spindle assembly discuss this in very good detail, BUT YOU SHOULD SEE HOW SMALL THE PRINTING IS and HOW MANY DIFFERENT LANGUAGES THEY PRESENT, so it is almost never read (so don't feel bad, Brireey)!

Super glad you resolved the issue, Brireey!

I have a 1985 vintage Temptrol shower valve, model A, that is leaking from diverter. When I turn the handle I get a burst of water from the hole where the diverter handle plugs in. I have a parts breakdown list but it looks like a newer model. Can mine be repaired? Thanks
