    Red Hair Dye Removal
Let's begin this off with saying I'm a natural dirty blonde, though I have not seen my natural color in the longest time until just recently (only in my roots).

So, last summer I had dyed my hair red. Now, I'm not complaining about that or saying that it completely screwed up my hair. Actually, the red looked fine in my hair. However, I got sick of constantly having to take care of it as the red seemed to fade from my hair quickly, even when using all the right shampoos and conditioners.

So, around December I had my hair dyed dark brown. It looked okay and I didn't mind it, but I decided I didn't want it so I didn't recolor it. Months have passed and the dark hair color has completely faded away, but the red is still there. I can even the blonde in my roots, but most of my hair still has a red tint, especially the ends.

I work at a hair salon (not as a hair stylist, but as a receptionist for about over a year now) and have talked to many of the people there of how to get rid of this problem. I was suggested Paul Mitchell's Shampoo Three, which I know is supposed to be a very powerful hair cleanser and take color out right away.

So, I've been using it for a while, keeping it in my hair for around 10-15 minutes, maybe even a half an hour, and am disappointed to say that it doesn't seem to be very effective. It has been lightening up my hair a tad bit and I can see the blonde in my roots expanding, but the red is still very prominent. I believe this could be because it's such old color, so I'm not seeing as much come out as I would with new color.

A hair stylist who used to work there once told me about a clarifying shampoo from Redken that completely stripped her red color out in a short amount of time. Is there actually something like that, or could it have possibly been discontinued? I have used the Redken Cleansing Shampoo (great stuff for removing impurities, especially build up.), but it definitely didn't tamper with my color even when it was newly-dyed so I don't think that was the one.

So, basically, I'm wondering if anyone can give me suggestions for something that can really help get rid of this irritating red. I'm planning on bleaching my hair and dying it over with a color that's close to my natural color, so I'd really like to get out as much of the red as I can before doing so.

Should I just continue with the Shampoo Three, or is there something stronger that can really get strip away the red coloring? I'd really appreciate any suggestions you can give!
