How soon is too soon to call it love?
Hi everyone. I'm a sophomore in college and I've been seeing this amazing boy for about 6 weeks now. Things are going great and we really like each other. But a few days ago while on a date, he confessed his love for me. He said the three magic words, "I love you". I was taken aback a bit because I've always felt that love was something that built over time and a little over a month was too soon to call it love. At first I thought he was just trying to get sex from me. But then I realized we've already had sex a few times so that's probably not it. Then I thought, "perhaps he's confusing infatuation for love". Is he really in love with me? Or just the idea of me. I personally wouldn't say that I'm in love with him quite yet. But I do really like him, and I don't want him to say "I love you" now, only to realize later that his feelings of love have cooled down and he doesn't feel anything for me anymore. I'm pondering whether I should take his confession seriously, or just subtly push it aside in the back of my mind to keep from raising any expectations. It would mean a lot if guys could answer this question, just to gain perspective from the male side. I know it's different for each guy, but do boys generally become infatuated easily? Do they fall in love with a girl, only to quickly change their feelings later on? To describe my boyfriend a bit, he's a kind and gentle guy. He respects me and treats me like a princess. He's well-mannered and a perfect gentleman. He's the guy I could bring home to my parents.

You have a different idea of love, his love is as real to him at this time. Just because you have one version or idea of love, others will believe that they feel love within weeks.

He is right and you are right from how each of you view love.
