    Won't eat after bowel surgery
My dog had bowel surgery on Tuesday. She had to spend the night and ate ten to twelve of her staples. She had to stay with the vet all day. They got her to eat and she was eating and drinking last night but won't eat today. She used to only eat once per day but after the surgery I fed her every three hours just a little bit as directed. She drank a lot of water today but has not urinated. Also she had a bowel movement, but it was runny... no sign of blood. Should I take her back to the vet tomorrow morning or should I wait until she is ready to eat?

You should call the vet's office and report, as soon as they open today. We don't even know what the surgery was for, or anything at all about your dog. They do!

In general, eating isn't as important as drinking and excreting at first.

She's fine... our vet said to give her pedialyte to get her hydrated and to feed her canned food to get her to eat until she is healed. We will take her back in on Monday for check up.
