    f1 f2visa tax return
This is my 7th year in the United States with a F1 visa. I came here in 2006 and graduated in 2010. Then, I did OPT for a year and I went back to graduate school.
I was married to my husband in 2011 and he came to the States in 2011 with a F2 visa.

Last year, I went to H&R block and got my tax filed there. I went to the different H&R block this year, and the consults told me, the first H&R block did wrong as they did the single filing status on my tax return. They told me to get ITIN# for my husband before proceeding the filing in order to redeem the additional money from previous year; so we went to the IRS office to get his ITIN#, but an IRS lady told us the new procedure has been implemented that we first need to prepare a tax return and attach it to W-7 form. She added we need to send his passport for 8 to 11 weeks at least to obtain the ITIN# along with other documents.

I returned to the H&R block, but I had a totally different consult. She told me I would not get more than what was written in the second box in W-2 form and told me to do it by myself (because the amount was low).

I am now very confused and don't know what to do about it.
I don't know what form to use to file my tax return. Please help me!

It is clear the H & R Block office has NO CLUE what to do.

Tell me WHERE you are living and I Will tell you which IRS office to go to to get your husband's passport certified.

You will then go there with husband, passport, W-7, and 2012 tax return to answer a few questions and submit the 2012 tax return and W-7.

You will leave with husband and passport, lluz

You will leave with your husband and his passport and a receipt for the w-7 and tax return.

You will get the ITIN in the mail about six weeks after submission.

Once you have the ITIN, you can amend the 2011 return.
