Testosterone for women has not been approved by the FDA. Long-term side effects have not been studied. Studies show that oral testosterone lowers "good" HDL cholesterol and raises "bad" LDL cholesterol in the blood. High cholesterol is known to increase risks of heart disease and stroke. I don't know about cream.
Treatment for longer than 6 months has not been studied. No one yet knows whether it raises risks of breast cancer, heart disease, or blood clots. It may increase these risks, because some testosterone in the body is made into estrogen. Higher-than-normal estrogen in the body is linked to these risks.
Some noticeable symptoms such as lower voice, going bald, facial hair, and easy hostility are signs that you should stop. I wonder if your pharmacist noticed any of these?

I think you have a cautious pharmacist, and should reconsider this need for higher libido with drugs. There is not one drug that does not have it's risk. ALL drugs need to be taken with regard to pros and cons.
