    Adopting my lesbian girlfriends child
    We live in England as a lesbian couple and went to a private donar together, conceived a baby together and have no contact wiv donar. Can I adopt the child as my own? If so how?

    Yes you can. "In the UK hetrosexual, gay and lesbian couples can adopt since the law was changed at the end of 2005." Adoption Law

    I would start at that website for info, but the bottom line is you will need to consult a solicitor to prepare the paperwork. . So start shopping around for one. I would check with gay support groups for recommendations for a solicitor.

    When you say "private donor" do you mean a person that you had contact with or a sperm bank? If it were the former then you may be required in good faith to find this person so they can sign off on an adoption. Were there any legal contracts signed by the courts at the time to remove rights from this person?
