    Do I need to file a nj tax return
    My total income for 2012 is from stocks that total $123.72. Do I need to file a nj return?

    Is that your ONLY New Jersey income?

    If so, you still probably need to file, because the NJ Tax People take the same attitude as the IRS: If you do not submit a tax return to report gains and losses, they assume each stock sale has ZERO basis and the proceeds is all gain.
