How do I fix a wood panelled wall when stripping the paint off doesn't work.
Made the mistake of thinking I could strip the paint from wood paneling, that had been painted, not primed, with an oil base, then a semi gloss and another semi gloss, which started peeling. I thought the only way to change the hideous top coat was to scrape off what I could and then use a stipper on the rest. WRONG, either I'm leaving the stripper on too long and it's drying before I get back to it, or it's just not working. Now the wall is a mess and I don't know how to fix it.

Not being able to see the mes, can only think of 2 ways to fix problem.

    1. Try stripping a small area at a time. After doing whole wall, sand with 100 grit on orbital sander.

    2. Just do the sanding.

Old real wood panels, such as oak in a Victorian, or 1/4" veneer panels?
If the latter, rip them out and fix the plaster.
If the former, make sure you aren't using Stripeeze. 5F5 works better. But if the grain is open like oak is, then it's a losing battle. Hire someone with the right sanders and techniques.
