8 weeks pregnant with no heartbeat
My last period was early January, I conceived on jan 21. I did an ultrasound yesterday and the found a cyst and a gestational sack but no yolk or fetal pole. I did one 2 weeks ago and the found the same thing but a smaller sack. The doctor has suggested a d and c. I'm very worried. Do I have any reason to hope?

How did you know you conceived on that date? Was that the only day you ever had sex? Even if it was it might have been days later.

The best guess a great doctor could make is 2 weeks before to two weeks after that date... meaning a one month window.

I would follow the advice of the doctor.. they have the training and experience as well as access to everything they would need to make an educated decision.

Its best to not stress out over things because stress only does bad things to your body. Have faith and trust in your doctors.

I may have conceived after but definitely not before. I'm trying to be hopeful since I really haven't had any spotting or serious pain other than a little cramping(which started when I got pregnant). I'm wondering if I should change doctors. He suggested doing a d and c but we insisted we want to wait.

Get a second opinion from another doctor if it will put your mind at ease.

Your thread title says 8 weeks pregnant with no heartbeat. The heartbeat usually isn't heard until 12 weeks, so not hearing it at 8 weeks, is not something I'd be concerned about. It's a bit early.

If your dates could be off, then it could also be too early for confirmation via an ultrasound.

I would definitely get a second opinion on this.

I wish you the best of luck.

Can you hear the heartbeat at 9 weeks [ 3 Answers ]

I have been having stomach cramps and went to the doctors but couldn't hear the heartbeat. When is it that you can hear the heartbeat. I have heard from a friend that she didn't hear it until she was 20 weeks. I was told that I didn't have to have a scan yet even though it is my 1st baby.
