You can pull the plug that is used to stop drain in sink or you can shut off faucet by turning the knobs or you can explain to us what the problem is and we will help you.

If you do not have shut-off valves under your sink you need to find the main shut-off for the entire house. Depends if you have a well or municipal service. Municipal water usually enters the house in the basement or wall closest to the street. Round handle valves turn clock-wise for off. Lever style levers follow the flow when on, and are perpendicular when turned off. If you have a well, there should be a valve on either side of your pressure tank that would shut-off the water. Hope this was helpful.

Good info, scott, but Im still left wondering exactly what is happening here. One of those questions where you just want to say something along the lines of " Do you remember how you turned the water on to the sink? If so, reverse that process to turn the water off". I can only guess that the faucet will not shut off completely, the sink drain is plugged hence the sink is overflowing? That's my best guess. If this is indeed the problem, please follow scotts advice. However, I would also assume that if you have not found a solution to the problem by the time you read this, you have a flooded home? Either way, please do let us know how things turned out.
