    Hello j:

Try Planned Parenthood at 7424 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75231. (214) 373-1868. It looks like it's in your neighborhood.

    Hello again, J:

Go to your state Medicaid office first thing tomorrow morning. Or, if you must, visit your local emergency room.

I totally disagree. She spotted until the 16th and STOPPED. A waste of ER dollars and time and real emergencies. Spotting is not abnormal at all.

    Hello joy:

I worded my answer quite carefully. I DON'T give medical advice, and that's NOT what this was. I'm NOT a medical person, and don't pretend to be.. But, I WILL dispense a personal word or two..

I said that IF SHE THOUGHT she needed medical attention, SHE should go. I wouldn't change anything about that advice.

Yes, you worded it carefully for most of us, but she has no clue what is happening, I think, and needed to know that spotting is normal FIRST.

There really are times to say no to the ER. Yes, any symptom can be that rare case. But I for one am going to take the approach that common sense and a certain amount of home remedy are very, very lacking these days. Anyone who wants to sue me if I'm wrong about advice is welcome to. Since that's another aspect of our society that has gotten out of hand. And third and last - young people need to know that health care is not free. Given that, they need to learn about their bodies and their health, or make some money and pay. This young woman is the unwitting poster child for the socialized medicine that so many people don't want to pay for with tax dollars. She probably doesn't even know that 'free' care is being paid for by taxes from people who work.

Please do not go to the ER. You would be tying up valuable resources for someone who might have a REAL emergency.

So, you had your period when expected and you continue to spot. Sounds pretty common. You may just be experiencing an off period. If you are not going through a pad an hour there is little to be concerned about. This happens to every woman at least once in their lives.

If you remain concerned, call your local health department Monday morning.
