How much Tylenol 3 is safe at end of 3rd trimester to avoid withdrawals in baby?
At about 34 weeks, my OBGYN prescribed Tylenol 3 for me to help with some severe rib pain I've been experiencing. On average, I've been taking four pills per day - two doses, two pills per dose. Every once in awhile, I'll have a day where I don't need any meds at all, but those days are rare. I'm now 37 weeks.

Shortly after getting the prescription, I became worried about how much I was taking, so I called my OB's office. The nurse told me not to worry, that my dosage was fine, and called in a refill for me.

At my most recent appointment, I reminded my OB about the pain medication, and she seemed mildly concerned. She told me even 2-3 pills per day could cause withdrawal symptoms in the baby. I told her I would start cutting back on my dosage, and that was the end of the conversation. She didn't offer any specifics about an appropriate dosage at this point in my pregnancy, and she didn't make a big deal out of it.

Of course I had to do some research online, and now I'm terrified my baby is going to experience withdrawals because of the pain meds I've been taking. I'm 37 weeks today. This is my fourth pregnancy, and my babies tend to deliver post-term. If I stop taking the medication now, will three weeks be enough time to avoid a baby in withdrawal?

The pain is pretty severe, so if it's not necessary I give up the medication altogether, would 2 pills per day be safe? Or, perhaps, every other day? I feel pretty awful, but I'll power through it if I have to.

DO NOT take tylenol with pregnancy. I saw on Dr. OZ that tylenol is not good for you so obviously it is not going to be good for a fetus
