My sister was taken from her father and put into foster care when she was 9 yrs old because her father was physically abusive. My mother tried to get custody of her after she was placed in foster care but they refused to reinstate custody, so she ran off with her and left the state. The authorities caught up with her when she was 12 and placed her back in foster care. SHe is 16 no and since then she has been placed with my father (not my sisters biological father) and stepmother, and they have gained legal guardianship through the courts. She is not happy with them and I've witnessed first hand them screaming and yelling at her constantly, they have 2 sons 17 and 9 and make sure their taken care of while making a noticeably big difference between them and her. I have to buy her everything she needs they won't get her clothes or even neccesities like deodorant, shampoo, soap, etc and she's not allowed to use the boys. I had to take her to get pants last winter because she was wearing shorts because she didn't have any that fit her. I asked my father why she didn't have proper clothes for the winter and he just told me it wasn't any of my business and if I kept it up that he would cut off visitation again. Their house is extremely nasty as well, there's a huge hole in the bathroom floor where you can look down and see the ground and the shower is black and brown and all rusted and there's mold on the wall and ceiling, there's so much trash and clothes laying around you can't even walk through the living room and its infested with roaches, she says she hates sleeping there because all she has is a futon mattress on the floor and the roaches crawl on her at night. She desperately wants to be with me and after everything she's been through she deserves to be with someone that loves her and will take care of her.All she is to my father and stepmother is a paycheck. And I want to get her out of that no one should have to live in filth and a place your not wanted. Im 24 yrs old with 2 kids of my own have a steady job, a 4 bedroom house so she can have her own room, and the means to provide a good life for her. I would really like to have guardianship transferred to me I just don't know how to even get started.
