    Okay. The problem was I oversaturated the filter with oil. Now the darn thing won't start. I pull the cord and it freewheels. No putt-putt of trying to start. Did I kill it?

    No shouldn't have just from oil in filter, is there no resistance on rope? If so you may just have a bad recoil engagement.. . does the blade turn when you pull rope?
