    Cashing bad checks
My friend said he needed help cashing a few checks. So he had his girlfriend's parents write 3 checks out to me so I could use my bank's atm to electronically scan the checks and withdrawn the money instantly handing the cash over to him. Thought checks were good because they went through instantly. But a few days later I get word of the parents stopping the checks and now my account is minus $327. What can I do to fix this and get my money back? I already contacted the parents and they aren't working with me.

They went through against your funds. That's all 'instant' means. Did the parents hand 3 checks to you personally? Were they made out to you, or to whom? You can sue your so called 'friend' and hope he will pay you back. He probably won't, even if you win.

The checks went through because you had enough money in your account to cover them. If the checks were made out to you and the issuer stopped the, you can file suit in small claims court.

My friend gave them to me and all 3 checks were made out to me. I endorsed the back of the checks. After texting the parents making them aware of the bad checks, they said they will not fix it. Then the parents told me why they stopped the checks because after recently finding drugs on him they automatically think I am too. My so called friend lied to the parents saying he needed money because he owed me which is how he got them to write out those checks. So because of that lie he told them the parents think I'm on something. I've been researching all day on how to recover those funds I lost. Can I take the check issuer to small claims court for cancelling the checks?

Yes. You pay a fee, about $50, which you get as part of the award.
But you have to hope they pay the suit, which some people don't.
You don't have to appear in court if they decide to pay you before the court date. There is a provision for settlement on the form.

Also include any bounced check fees due to them stopping the checks.
