The main floor toilet when flushing spin in a whirlpool fashion however does not take any of its contents down with it. However after a few flushes it will take it down in a very strong pressured pull. This happens more frequently now even with one sheet of paper in it. Please help!

You tank water level should be no lower than 1/2" below the top of the over flow tube.

Yes water line is just slightly above line

I had the same problem and I ran a snake down 25'. Works great... for now. Auger-style 25' snake ran me about $15.

Snaking a toilet requires the toilet to ome up off the floor. Before you snake you should try vigorous plunging. Plunging gets it power on the pull stroke not the push.

Glad you mentioned that,ballengerb1. After pulling mine I reset it with a reuseable foam-like ring instead of wax. Found it at a small local HW store. I'd never seen one before.

Concat, that isn't what I recommended, plunging is easier and frequently does the trick

Sorry my mistake,However plunging has not worked for me, however previously hkstroud suggested I hold down the handle during the entire flush and 8/10 times it works best. So that will have to do for know. Thanks for all your advice

That was a diagnostic step.

If holding the flush lever down makes the toilet flush properly, that suggest to me that the water level in the tank is to low or the flush valve is defective and closing to soon. Since you have previously said that the water level is at the water mark I suggest looking at the flush valve. What type do you have?

Do you have a large hole (jet) at the bottom of the toilet?

Yes it does have a large jet at the bottom of toilet. The toilet is an American Standard roughly 8 years old.
