    Curious about half sister
My father was married and divorced then met my mother and they had me. My mom told me I had a half sister from my fathers previous marriage. His other daughter is about 10 yrs older than I and had a poor relationship with our father and was legally adopted by her step father. She sent me a picture of herself when I was 8 with a short note with her age and adoptive name. Our father died when I was 17 and I was listed as the only child and only heir. I would love to find her because I never had any siblings and I always felt I need to at least meet her. Ive tried so many people search sites and have come up with nothing. Ive searched for years and would love any help I can get. If possible I would prefer free services. I know her age father and her adopted last name but not much else. The information I got was from about 20 years ago

You may have to hire a licensed private investigator if the usual channels are not turning up a match. She has also probably married since that time and taken her husband's name, so you may be looking for the wrong name.

Have you tried looking through the newspaper in the area she lived in for a marriage announcement?

Its odd that her birth name and adoptive name would turn up empty. If I Google myself there is high school info and even family info and that includes not searching my maiden name. I know the state she was born in and of course our fathers family info. I don't know birth date but I do know round about birth age. Ive used the state and age info but its always a no go. I appreciate the idea of a pi but I'm not sure if I could afford that kind of help.. we are all in that kind of pinch, lol. I know that is an option now though. Thanks

My husband is one of those people that is completely off the radar. Google his name, and you get several matches, but none are him. And he doesn't have a name like John Brown--it's fairly uncommon. He has no social networking, has joined none of his high school stuff, and has not been in the news for any reason. He's impossible to find online because he WANTS to not be findable online. My dad is the same way--VERY private and makes sure he's impossible to find online.

    Some people are like that.

Have you tried searching for her parents and contacting her through them?

Wow, it seems impossible anyone could be able to be off the internet radar. My area posts names and anything in the local paper including graduation info. I don't know my half sisters mothers name or her adoptive step fathers . I know that before our father died she had been in communication with him, she also was in contact with our grandmother. I would think by how hard it was to ever meet her she just didn't ever want to meet, but she sent me a picture one time saying she wanted to
