Hi my daughters dad wants to sign over his rights so he doesn't have to pay child support and because he doesn't want anything to do wit me... he doesn't ask to see our daughter... he only sees her when I go to my dads house to visit... he has 2 other kids and sees them all the time... but I was told that he can't sign over his rights because he had to be responsible for child support and he can only sign them over if we both decide to put our 8 month old daughter up for adoption, And I'm not doing that... I need some advise on what to do... because I've had enough of him... he always cuuses at me when we talk even if its about our daughter... I just don't know what to do. Please help.

Others will be here soon enough to give you full information but no, he can't just sign away his rights like that simply because he wants to.

Do you have a child support order from the courts in place?

In general the info you received is correct - he cannot sign away his rights. Some of that depends on your State (assuming you are in US).

Have you gone to Court to get a support order?

You can force him to support a child; you cannot force him to be a good father.

The only reason you would want the father sign away his rights is if either (a) you decide to put the child up for adoption - which you've already said you don't want to do, or (b) you get married and your new husband wants to adopt the child and take on full repsonsibility for the role of father. Unless scenario (b) comes to pass, the father cannot simply decide to take no responsibility.
